Spring Tide (noun)

Higher-running tide; tide that has a greater tidal range than average tides; antonym of (opposite of) "neap tide." It gets its name because the tide "springs" up. Its name has nothing to do with the season of the year. Spring tides typically occur twice monthly with the full and new moon.
