Boil or Upwelling (noun)

 

Water ramming up to the surface of a body of water from below, forming very low fountains which resemble the roiling action of boiling water.

 

Boils at Old Sow Whirlpool form smooth circular areas of various sizes, and on rare occasion may spout suddenly, high into the air.
