Spout (noun)

Water ramming up to the surface of a body of water from below, and fountaining into the air, sometimes as high as 15 - 20 feet / 5 - 7 metres, at Old Sow Whirlpool.

Generally, when the same — but weaker — spouting activity doesn’t have enough power to shoot into the air, it results in boils.
